Wedding Digital Photography - Tips To Make Your Pictures Better

If you have been asked to photograph a wedding it can be a daunting thought. It’s a day when so much can go wrong. Therefore you want to be as prepared as possible. The most important thing to remember is that wedding digital photography is no different than the normal digital photography you do. But it is important to be clear on the things you need to do on the day.

Turn off the sound on camera - there is nothing worse than the sound of electronic beeping during a solemn moment.

Take as many photos as possible. The beauty of digital is that you are only limited to the size of your storage media. This is a once in a lifetime occasion, capture as much of it as you can. And don’t automatically delete pictures you don’t think are good. Review them all after the event. With a little cropping or manipulation you may find a perfect shot that you didn’t know you had.

Make lists and stick to them - don’t leave anything to chance. Check your batteries and make sure they are fully charged. Check your memory cards and made sure they are clear of data. Take time before the wedding day and get familiar with the wedding venues and scout the positions you will be able to shoot from. Pay close attention to the lighting conditions and where people will be situated. If there is a wedding rehearsal make sure you are there to rehearse your part.

Today is not the day to try out new techniques or equipment on your camera. Instead be entirely comfortable with it as you know your camera inside out. The wedding will be busy and emotions running high, there will be little chance to re-shoot or to re-pose so make everything you do count. Think about organizing someone in the wedding guests to act as your assistant for group shots. They can round up people and get them organized while you concentrate on the job at hand, taking the wedding digital photographs.

Master the continuous shoot mode on your digital camera. Having a series of shots may capture everyone relaxing after the main shot has been taken. If you are lucky one of the shots might have everyone looking at the camera together.

Using your digital camera at a wedding to capture the memories of the day is a stressful duty. Be prepared and know your camera and your pictures will become treasured memories for the bride and groom.
